Abstract 

 

Evasive Answers in Political Interviews and Their Pragmatic Functions

 

      People communicate with others to obtain new information, express their attitudes and share feelings to keep a harmonious relationship in verbal communication. When meeting tricky questions or private topics, and those could not be replied at once, at this moment, they will seek for certain strategies to facilitate their communication. Evasion, as a communicative strategy, is a preferable.

Based on Adaptation Theory, this paper analyzes evasive answers in nine pieces of political interviews and tries to explore their pragmatic functions. Interlocutors in these interviews satisfy their communicational needs with both overt and covert evasion strategies. Evasive answers in political interviews can help to withhold information and maintain a harmonious relationship

This study may shed some lights on the future study of evasive answers, and contribute to improve people’s communicational ability.

摘要

政治访谈中闪避回答的方式和功能

人们在交际中通过交流，获取信息，表达态度，分享感受，维持和谐关系。他们常常遇到狡猾的问题或是私人话题，使之无法当即回答。这时，他们会寻求一定的战略来帮助维持交流。而闪避就是一个颇受欢迎的交际策略。

本文从不同的政治访谈中选取了9段政治访谈对话作为语料，采用语言顺应论对政治访谈中的回避现象进行分析，并分析其语用功能。采访中的谈话者能运用明示回避策略和暗示回避策略来满足他们的交际需求，政治采访中的闪避回答不仅可以帮助对话者保留信息，还能维持和谐的人际关系。
