摘要

寒暄语是一种特殊的语言现象。它的存在所起到的作用并非传递信息,而是建立起一种人际关系。寒暄语,作为一种表示应酬的辅助性语言,具有缩短交际者之间社会距离和维持人际关系的社会功能,也是社会生活和文化的真实反映。由于寒暄语在交际活动中发挥着重要作用,而言语交际的中心问题是以对方为中心,揣摩对方的情势,以对方为出发点。因此,本篇论文旨在通过中西方寒暄语的对比,以及对影响中西方寒暄语诸多因素的诠释,使人们在日常生活中能更有效的利用寒暄语,以增进友谊、达到沟通感情的目的;我们能够对此有宏观的把握,并且明确面对不同文化背景的交际者,如何适当使用“寒暄语”才能有利于良好语境的形成,即在交际活动中对“寒暄语”的运用收放自如,以达到交际活动的预期目的。

The Difference between Chinese and English Phatic Language and Their Cultural Origins
Abstract
Phatic language is a special kind of linguistic phenomenon. Its existence is not the function of transmitting information, but establishing certain relationship. Phatic language, as a social element, can shorten social distance, maintain the social function of interpersonal relationships, and reflect life and culture of human beings. Therefore, owing to the importance of phatic language in social activities, this paper is mainly focus on analysing the Chinese and Western phatic language to expound the impact factors of the two kinds of phatic language, in order to make people learn how to use proper words, enhance friendship, achieve the purpose of communication, to have a macro grasp of it and realize how to perform communication with people bearing different cultural background. Furthermore, the proper use of “phatic language” can be benefital for the formation of a good context. Therefore, making good use of phatic language can facilitate people to achieve the prospective aim of communication.
