Abstract
Focusing on the widespread use of gear in automotive, the paper classifies the gear using in automotive according to each assembly. With the design theory of gear in mechanical parts, the paper models various gears in CATIA V5 by using its parametric function. Integrating the Knowledge module of CATIA V5, the paper forms a suit of gear library of automotive via the faction of Catalog in CATIA V5. The library can be put into use directly and taken its advantages in vehicle design.

Abstract
Focusing on the widespread use of gear in automotive, the paper classifies the gear using in automotive according to each assembly.
