Abstract

Hippies Movement is a wide influenced anti-culture movement in which a lot of young took apart. It was related with the current policy, economy, and education and so on. American culture traditionally includes three spirited heritages: Protestant ethic, Enlightenment and Pioneering spirit. Hippies Culture promoting Hedonism, sexual revolution, unreason and collectivism obviously is a challenge to American traditional culture. Although the hippies’ movement happened 30 or 40 years ago, but its implications are far-reaching and extensive. As Dickstein said, "hippies’ movement as a social revolution is a failure, but as a fiery cultural revolution, it is victory." It shook the American traditional culture and changed the society, strengthened the democracy in social system and poured vigor into the realm of ideology and theory.
