传媒业集中趋势的经济学分析

[摘要]自上世纪90年代以来,所有权集中的趋势成为传媒行业的重要现象之一。本文用经济学市场分析方法,通过传媒业内九个部门及整个行业的垄断指数(CR4,CR8)来分析并测量其集中程度,并在CR4和CR8数据的基础上得出结论:传媒业的七个部门呈现出明显的寡头市场特征,整个行业市场正加速走向寡头市场。本文分析了推动传媒集中趋势的两个层面的四个原因。在外部层面,以1996年电信为代表的传媒管理政策管理放松、传媒技术的革命性变化所导致的资源结构和竞争格局的改变、良好的宏观经济和充足的资本市场等三个主要因素直接推动了传媒集中趋势。在内部层面,传媒巨头为取得“多样性经济”以战略竞争优势而纷纷进行扩张是导致集中趋势的最主要内因。

Abstract: Concentration trend has dominated the picture of media ownership since 1990’s. Concentration within and across 9 sectors of the industry has increased which can be seen and measured by the CR4 ratio and CR8 ratio. The theory of identifying different type of markets is introduced along with the data that show that the market structures of 7 sectors are characterized by oligopoly while the industry as a whole was moving fast toward oligopoly market. The driving-forces behind the picture can be traced to 4 sources at 2 levels. At the external level, 3 factors contribute to the trend: the deregulation of media ownership, the fast changing technology and the macro-economic and capital market environment. At the internal level, the force comes from the need to gain the advantage of the economies of multiformity and strategic status in competition among giant conglomerates.
