Abstract: Activation-induced cell death(AICD) has drawn considerable interest as a key mechanism of T cells apoptosis during HIV infection. Different protein products of HIV show different effects on the process of AICD, and the activation state of the immune system itself may directly decide the initiation and progressing; which altogether lead to various clinical results, such as the reverse of Th/Ts ratio and the occurrence of Kaposi’s sarcoma. Through influencing the process AICD, IL-16、highly active antiretroviral therapy(HAART) may suppress replication and, subsequently, viral spread.
