摘要

《鲁滨逊漂流记》是18世纪英国作家丹尼尔·笛福的代表作。该小说描述了鲁滨逊航海遇难漂流到一座孤岛上，并在岛上度过了28年后终于获救回到英国的故事。《鲁滨逊漂流记》是英国历险小说的源头，它成功地塑造了一个充满冒险精神的英雄形象。作为一名没有经验而又对未来抱有美妙幻想的少年，鲁滨逊敢于冒险，勇于追求自由自在，无拘无束的生活。当他流落到那荒无人烟、缺乏最基本的生存条件的小岛上时，他孤身一人，有时甚至还受到生命威胁，但他却始终保持着勇敢、坚毅和乐观的性格。最终靠自己不懈的努力，回到了英国并成了富翁。本探讨了性格和命运之间的关系，得出了这样的结论：性格决定命运。

Abstract

Robinson Crusoe is the masterpiece of Daniel Defoe, a great English novelist in the 18th century. This novel narrates how Robinson Crusoe goes to sea, gets shipwrecked and maroons on a lonely island, struggles to live for twenty-eight years there and finally gets relieved and returns to England. Robinson Crusoe is a pioneering English adventure fiction; it creates the image of a hero who is full of adventurous spirit. Being an inexperienced teenager and a young man full of bright fancies about the future, Robinson is adventurous and has the courage to pursue his free and easy life.When he maroons on the small island that is uninhabited and lack of the most basic living conditions, Robinson is alone,and often exposes his life to danger. However, to the very end he remains courageous, persevering and optimistic character. Eventually, by his own unremitting efforts, he returns to Britain and becomes a rich man.This thesis explores the relationship between character and fate, concluding that character determines fate.
