作者认为成熟的亚洲社会心理学的标志,不是它获得的有关亚洲人的知识本身,而是它用来创造关于社会行为的一般性知识的特殊方法。方法论的关系论是亚洲社会心理学对主流心理学的一个重要贡献,可以作为分析人类思想和行为的普遍性的概念框架。文章详细地阐述了作为方法论的关系论的基本观点。通过对儒家文化中的关系支配性、西方社会科学研究范式的转变等问题的讨论,作者分别说明了方法论的关系论在中西文化中的适用性。作者指出,在应用方法论的关系论时,也要注意关系本身的文化差异。
