任伯年(1840- 1896)清代画家。名颐，初字小楼，后改字伯年，别号任公子、任和尚、山阴道上行者、山阴人。浙江山阴人。父亲任声鹤是民间画像师，少时受家庭的煎染，己能绘画。14岁去上海扇庄学徒，画技大进，未成年即有名声。咸丰十一年(1861)太平军攻克绍兴，他参加太平军为旗乎。太平天国失败后，留居家乡，又流寓宁波，得名师任熊、任薰教授，于同治七年(1868)一月随任熊去苏州。中年后长居上海，以卖画为生。其画师法陈洪级、华岩，重视写生，勾勒、点簇交施匀_用，别具一格，成为”海上画派”重要创始人之一C与任熊、任薰、任预并称画坛任门”四杰”。有《二友图》、《蕉荫纳凉小像》、《八仙祝寿》、《祝福》、《蟠桃会》、《关河一望萧索》、《钟馗》、《倒骑驴图》等名作。任伯年擅长花鸟、人物画、尤以人物画称雄清末画坛。任伯年为人率真，不修边幅，画多而名声渐大，但其身心深受鸦片之害，损伤元气，年仅56岁就过早去世了。论述任伯年人物画的艺术特征，借以研究国人物画继续发展的方向。

Abstract: Nearly a hundred years，Chinese character painting, in the approach of the combination ofeast and w est，Ren Benign was the first man who got the achievement. This thesis wants to discuss Ren Be-nian' s artistic character of his character painting in the aspect of the combination of east and west and studyand inspire the development of Chinese character painting by this turning point.
